JPBRS is an open-access journal: every published case is freely available to read worldwide, with no paywall. This page explains who owns the copyright and how published work may be reused.
1. Open access
All accepted cases are published open access. Readers anywhere can view and learn from them without a subscription or fee, supporting our mission to share surgical knowledge for the benefit of patients worldwide.
2. Shared copyright
Copyright in a published case is shared between the author and the journal. As an author you retain the right to use your own case — for teaching, presentations, your portfolio, social media and similar professional purposes — while the journal holds the rights needed to publish, host, distribute and permanently archive it.
3. Reuse by readers
Others may share and cite published cases for non-commercial, educational and scholarly purposes, provided they give clear attribution to the author(s) and JPBRS and do not present the work as their own. For any other reuse — including commercial use or republication — please contact us first at [email protected].
4. Attribution
When citing or reusing a case, please credit the author(s), the case title, Journal of Plastic, Breast & Reconstructive Surgery (JPBRS), and link to the original where possible. Cases that have been assigned a DOI should be cited using it.
5. Patient material
The reuse permissions above do not override patient privacy. Clinical images and details remain subject to our Patient Privacy & Consent policy and must never be used in a way that could identify a patient.
