Terms of Use
Last updated 25 June 2026
These terms govern your access to and use of Journal of Plastic, Breast & Reconstructive Surgery (JPBRS) (“JPBRS”). By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. Accounts
You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential, and are responsible for activity under your account. You must be a healthcare professional or otherwise have a legitimate professional interest to submit or review cases. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.
2. Author submissions and warranties
When you submit a case, you confirm that:
- the work is yours (or you have the right to submit it) and is original;
- it does not infringe anyone’s rights or breach confidentiality;
- appropriate, documented patient consent has been obtained for the publication of all clinical content and images, and that no identifying patient information is included, in line with our Patient Privacy & Consent policy;
- the work meets recognised standards of research and publication ethics.
You remain responsible for the accuracy and integrity of your submission.
3. Peer review and editorial decisions
Submitted cases undergo peer review. Editorial decisions — including acceptance, requests for revision, rejection and the timing of publication — are made at the editors’ discretion. Reviewers must treat submissions as confidential and declare conflicts of interest.
4. Rights and licensing of published work
Accepted cases are published open access. Copyright in a published case is shared between you and the journal, and you grant us the rights necessary to publish, host, distribute and archive your work. You may continue to use your own case for education, presentations and similar purposes. See Licensing & Open Access for the full details.
5. Payments and peer-review publication tokens
Some cases require a paid peer-review publication token, processed by Stripe; cases submitted to an open case competition are exempt. Prices are shown before purchase. Because peer review begins once a token is used, tokens are generally non-refundable except where required by law. Buying a token does not guarantee acceptance or publication.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: upload unlawful, infringing or patient-identifying content; misuse the review process; attempt to gain unauthorised access; scrape or overload the service; or use it to harass others.
7. Intellectual property of the platform
The JPBRS name, logo, design and software are owned by us or our licensors and may not be copied or used without permission. This does not affect the open-access licence applied to published cases.
8. Medical disclaimer
Content on JPBRS is provided for professional education and information. It is not medical advice and is not a substitute for the clinical judgement of a qualified professional. We do not warrant that any technique described is appropriate for a given patient.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability is limited to the amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Changes, termination and governing law
We may update these terms; continued use after changes means you accept them. You may close your account at any time. These terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, and disputes are subject to the courts of Denmark. Questions: [email protected].
